Hand woven wool backpack using the Arhuaca bag weaving technique and handmade natural leather straps. Aluna is a multifunctional bag with adjustable straps that let it be worn as a backpack or handbag.
Its closing system is safe and comfortable. Its straps are designed to close the bag when worn.
It has three inside pockets, one of them zippered, to help you keep your things organized and safe.
We work with indigenous Arhuaca women from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. They manufacture the woven part of the Aluna bag. It takes them approximately one month to do this, as they both spin and weave the wool.
Aluna’s straps are made out of thick, natural leather, making the piece more durable and beautiful with time and use.
The name “Aluna” comes from the indigenous cultures that live in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Aluna is a part of their cosmology and means the state of darkness within which everything was created. It means spirit and thought.
